BandWorks Summer Camp

BandWorks Summer Camp

2008 Summer Camp Schedules Now Available!

BandWorks offers four different summer camp programs for kids and teens. Each program provides a supportive environment for young musicians to have fun playing music with other kids, and develop their music skills at the same time. Morning (9am to 12pm) and afternoon (1pm to 4pm) sessions are available each week. Supervision between sessions is provided for kids who sign up for both morning and afternoon programs. All of our sessions are led by trained professional musicians who love to teach. Please feel free to contact us at info@bandworks.com or 510-843-BAND (2263) if you would like more information.

Intro to Rock Band Instruments

A fun, hands-on-instruments workshop for those who want to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards or sing. Campers receive basic instruction on a variety of different instruments and get to experience the thrill of playing in a band. Start playing music on the first day, and by the end of the week you’ll be rocking out in a live performance at our studios!

CD Recording

Our summer CD Recording Program is for kids and teens who have some musical experience and want to play in a band and record a CD. We match students by instrumentation, age and experience level. Each session culminates in a live CD recording at the end of the week. Each day the band meets in a fully equipped rehearsal studio, and works on playing the handful of songs they’ve chosen for recording. Rehearsals are structured and fun, enabling kids and teens to play the music they want, and work toward the goal of making a CD the kids can take home on Friday. Please note that in our effort to offer the best possible experience in our CD camps, availability may be limited depending on enrollment variables such as age and experience level. Please contact us for specific up-to-date information about signing up. (Limit 1 drums, 1 bass, 1 keys per band).

The Music of... (Green Day / Red Hot Chili Peppers / White Stripes / Jimi Hendrix / Led Zeppelin / Beatles / Rage Against the Machine / AC/DC / Nirvana / Punk Bands / Classic Rock Bands / Metal Bands)

Learn to play the music of your favorite band! What makes Green Day sound the way it does? How can you learn to play more like Jimi Hendrix? Why are Beatles tunes so catchy? Each week this workshop focuses on the music of one of these great rock bands. You will get to explore their sound and learn their musical tricks as you play their songs. We teach you what makes these songs work, breaking the music down so you can understand the band's style and learn to sound like them. By the end of the week your band will perform selected songs in concert at our studios. All instruments are welcome. Some musical experience required. (Limit 2 drums, 2 bass, 2 keys per band).

Rock Jam

For those about to rock!  Each day you'll practice covers and/or originals you and your bandmates have chosen to work on for the week. You'll get plenty of chances to solo, sing (if you want), and rock out while you rehearse the tunes for an in-house concert at our studios at the end of the week. Some musical experience required. (Limit 2 drums, 2 bass, 2 keys per band).
