SUMMER CAMPS
Registration is now open for BandWorks Summer Camp 2026. Check the camp schedules below for registration opportunities in Oakland and San Rafael.
BandWorks offers 6 different summer camps for kids and teens (see descriptions below). All instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome to register!
Half-day camps are offered from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm each week. Campers registering for full days of camp (both AM & PM sessions) receive a $20 discount and free lunch supervision. Early drop-off and late pickup options are available in Oakland for an additional fee.
Camp sessions are offered by age group in Oakland (8-11, 9-12 and 12+) and San Rafael (8-11 and 11+). Class sizes range from 3 to 8 students.

Rates
All 3-hour camps (AM or PM) cost $335 per camp-week.
Digital Recording camps run for full days only and cost $700 per week.
Early drop-off or late pick-up are available in Oakland for and additional $75 per week (both for $150).
Campers enrolling in multiple sessions will receive a $30 discount per camp.
Customer-initiated transfers between camps cost $25.
All classes require at least 3 participants to run. Registrants will be forewarned if there is a possibility of cancellation due to under enrollment and transfer options will be offered. If we can’t run your camp and can’t transfer you to another option, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your registration for any reason before June 12th you will receive a partial refund (normally 80% of amount paid). There are no refunds for any reason after June 12th.

Oakland Summer Camps 2026

This camp for beginners offers aspiring musicians an opportunity to explore rock and pop music and learn the basics on several instruments. From day one they are a band practicing for a live performance! Emphasis is on musical exploration and having fun. Changing instruments between songs is encouraged, but not required. Repeating this class a few times over the summer is especially beneficial for beginning students, since each experience grows their skill set enormously when they are starting out. Every week is different, with new musicians, songs andinstructors, but sometimes you get the same friends and things grow from there. No experience required.

Our popular Rock Band camp offers musicians an opportunity to collaborate with their bandmates on their favorite songs and sometimes even write their own originals. Each band will pick 4 to 6 songs to learn and rehearse for the week. Each week is different, so sign up for as many weeks as you like! Minimum 6 months experience required on your instrument.

Got a favorite band? We do too! Our popular Music of… camps focus on exploring the catalog of a specific band, like Green Day, Nirvana, Metallica, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin. All instruments and vocalists welcome. Minimum 6 months experience required on your instrument.

The powerful influence of playing music together can be transformative and can carry over into many facets of our lives. All BandWorks camps and workshops are designed to foster cooperation and collaboration while building self-confidence and leadership skills…but sometimes it can be easier to express yourself when you’re in a group of the same gender. This camp has been requested by many parents, so we expect it to fill up quickly. Don’t miss out! No experience required.

Learn how to make professional sounding beats for a variety of applications including backing tracks for music, soundtracks for film, gaming audio, and much more! In this deep dive into Beatmaking, students will learn the basics of sound production and multi-track recording/editing and will have the chance to work with audio software applications to explore their creativity and develop their own sounds. Home computer/tablet setup with a DAW (digital audio workstation) is recommended but not required. Beginners welcome! No experience required description

Pick songs with your bandmates or write some of your own, practice a bunch and then start laying down tracks. Using software like Logic, GarageBand, and Ableton, students will learn about micing, tracking, mixing, and all the steps necessary to make a high-quality recording. Minimum 1 year experience required on your instrument.
